1. Who Operates KidNation
KidNation is operated by KidNation, Inc. For privacy questions, contact [email protected].
2. Information We Collect
Account-holder information
When an account holder creates or signs in to an account, we process the account email address, account identifier, authentication method, and any account name or profile image supplied through the selected sign-in method. Sign-in can use email and password, Google, or Apple if those methods are offered in the released version of KidNation.
We also process an account holder’s email-marketing preference when they choose whether to receive KidNation emails.
Child profile information
Each child profile may include a profile name or nickname, birth date, selected avatar, and an internal profile identifier. Please do not use a child’s full legal name or include other sensitive personal information in a profile name.
App activity and generated content
We process information needed to provide KidNation, including media that a profile watches or listens to, playlists, favorites, gameplay or progress information, and Storyteller activity.
When a profile uses Storyteller, the app sends the guided choices selected for the story. The service creates and stores the resulting story text, generated illustrations, audio, selected options, associated profile identifier, and related metadata such as creation time and read or favorite status.
Subscription information
If an account holder purchases or restores a subscription, we process subscription status, entitlements, and transaction-related identifiers supplied by the applicable app store and subscription service. KidNation does not receive a full payment-card number from Apple or Google.
Device, technical, and notification information
We process information needed to operate and secure the app, such as app/device technical information, authentication tokens, error or diagnostic information, and notification tokens when notifications are enabled. We use Firebase Analytics for app-use measurement and Firebase Cloud Messaging to send notifications.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to create and secure accounts and child profiles; provide videos, music, games, playlists, and Storyteller; create and deliver requested Storyteller output; maintain subscription access and restore purchases; send service-related notifications and, when an account holder opts in, marketing emails; understand and improve reliability, safety, and product performance; respond to account-holder, parent, and guardian requests; enforce our Terms; comply with legal obligations; and protect KidNation, families, and others.
4. Storyteller and AI Disclosure
Storyteller is a guided-choice experience. The current app interface asks a child to choose from curated story options; it does not provide an open text-chat field or a child voice-recording control.
To create a requested story, KidNation’s server uses the selected story choices to request generated text, illustrations, and audio from AI service providers. The server code currently uses OpenAI services for story text, images, and text-to-speech, and stores generated media through an S3-compatible Cloudflare R2 service. KidNation may update service providers as the product changes, and this policy should be read together with our current vendor and product settings.
Generated content may be imperfect or unexpected. It is not professional advice, and parents or guardians should supervise use. Do not submit personal, financial, health, school, location, or other sensitive information through KidNation.
5. When We Share Information
We share information only as needed to run KidNation, comply with law, or protect rights and safety. This includes service providers that process information for us, such as Google Firebase for authentication, analytics, and push notifications; OpenAI and any active image-generation provider for requested AI-generated content; Cloudflare R2 or another configured cloud-storage provider for generated and app media; RevenueCat, Apple, and Google for subscription and purchase operations; and hosting, security, customer-support, and professional service providers.
We do not permit service providers to use information for their own independent purposes except where we have given notice, obtained any required consent, or the law permits it.
6. Children’s Privacy and Parental Choices
KidNation is designed for use with a parent or guardian. KidNation does not provide a parent control panel. Before collecting, using, or disclosing personal information from a child where verifiable parental consent is required, we will provide the required direct notice and obtain that consent.
Parents or guardians can contact us to request review, correction, or deletion of a child’s profile information, to stop further collection where applicable, or to ask questions about our privacy practices. Use [email protected] or visit Support. We may need to verify that the requester is the parent or guardian and has authority over the account.
7. Retention and Deletion
We keep information only for as long as needed to provide KidNation, meet legal/accounting obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the service.
To request account deletion, use Delete Account or contact [email protected] from the account email address. We may need to verify the request. We will explain what is deleted, what may be retained for legal/security reasons, and the expected completion timeframe.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Parents should use a strong, unique account password and keep account credentials private.
9. International Use
KidNation and our service providers may process information in countries other than where a family lives. Where required, we will use appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as KidNation changes. If a change is material, we will provide notice as required by law and obtain new consent when required.
